Alison Kennedy, LMT, RYT

Massage Therapist, Ayurvedic Bodyworker

Alison came to yoga in 2009 as a result of a chronic illness. After earning her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Certification, she delved into an intensive training in Ayurveda, which included study in the healing arts of Shirodhara and Abhyanga. Alison’s awareness of the potential power in the somatic practice of yoga deepened and she was drawn to study the psychological and physiological fields, including how fascia profoundly impacts everything from posture and movement to the body’s internal rhythms. This led her to complete two Trauma-Informed Yoga teacher trainings with Alicia Barmon and Shelly Pentony; Positional Therapy with Lee Albert from Kripalu; and Yin Yoga Teacher Training with Machelle Lee at Roots & River Yoga.

Alison holds a certificate in Early Child Development and had an early career as a preschool teacher. The natural progression into yoga included earning her certification in Child Light Yoga. Alison offers Parent and Child Yoga classes, classes for elementary and middle school-aged children, and adult classes. She is impassioned to offer all her students, from the younger generations to the more seasoned, the teachings of yoga from a trauma informed lens. She shows up to her mat and her practice in the most authentic and honest way possible, and embracing how messy this life can truly be. In her uniquely warm, compassionate and engaging way, Alison delights in sharing the joy found in her practice. It is her hope that through her own varied life experiences she can help facilitate a journey of self-healing and love for all her yoga students.

After studying yoga and Ayurveda, it was an organic evolution for Alison to study the healing art of massage. She attended and graduate from Potomac Massage Training Institute’s (PMTI) 18-month professional program in early 2021 The program reinforced her passions and the joy of collaborating with clients to facilitate access to a more calm, grounded, and parasympathetic state. Whether her clients seek yoga, Ayurveda, massage, or any combination thereof, it is her hearts desire to provide a truly trauma-informed, compassionate, and client-centered experience. In partnering with each client on their wellness journey, she aspires to work together to bring balance, as well to positively impact all aspects; body, mind, and spirit.

Alison offers Massage, Shirodhara, Abhyanga, and a combination treatment of Shirodhara and Abhyanga
